Alex Prior

Conductor and Composer Alex Prior (b.1992) brings over 19 years of international and critically acclaimed experience to his appointment as Music Director-designate of the Eugene Symphony. Alex has earned a reputation since his early childhood for his profound and visionary music making which he has had the opportunity to share with some of the world’s greatest soloists, orchestras, and opera companies.

Patricia Nolz

The young Austrian mezzo-soprano Patricia Nolz graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with a Master’s in Lied and Oratorio under Florian Boesch and Claudia Visca. She is a laureate of numerous competitions and was an Anny Felbermayer scholarship holder in 2019.

In the 2025-2026 season, Patricia Nolz can be seen once again at the Vienna State Opera as Cherubino, a role she will also takes to Japan as part of the house’s guest appearance there. Further highlights include her debut as Hansel in a new production of Hansel & Gretel at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg and her debut as Octavian in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier under the baton of Christian Thielemann at the Berlin State Opera.

Matthias Manasi

Matthias Manasi is one of the most distinguished and innovative conductors of his generation and a highly sought-after guest conductor worldwide. From 2020 to 2024 he was chief conductor of the orchestra ‘I Solisti di Milano’ and from 2017 to 2021 he was music director and chief conductor of the Nickel City Opera in Buffalo (NY, USA). He was chief conductor of the Orchestra Camerata Italiana and music director of the International PuntaClassic Festival in Montevideo.

Matthias Manasi has enjoyed great success at the Wroclaw Opera, the Opera Poznań, the Oper Leipzig, the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Theater Bremen, the Opernhaus Halle, the Opernhaus Kiel, the Staatstheater Braunschweig, the Staatstheater Kassel, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Òpera de Marseille, the Opera Constanta, the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, the State Opera Rousse, the Rossini Festival Bad Wildbad and at the Eutiner Festspiele.

Nadine Sierra

Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today.

She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Paris Opera, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. In 2018, Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels released her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, followed by a second album, Made For Opera, in 2022.

Christian Van Horn

With his powerful instrument and commanding stage presence, Van horn has been hailed by The New York Times as “a bass-baritone of uncommon agility and power,” with a versatility that allows him to embody a variety of compelling roles, ranging from Méphistophélès to Don Giovanni.

The 2024/25 season promises to be another tour de force as he stars as the Four Villains in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann at The Metropolitan Opera, with a Live in HD broadcast in October. Other engagements include the title role in Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Esa-Pekka Salonen, his greatly anticipated role debut as Philippe II in Verdi’s Don Carlos at the Opéra national de Paris, Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen for both San Francisco Opera and Royal Ballet and Opera, and his title role debut in Verdi’s Attila, presented in concert at the Teatro Real.

Pablo Heras-Casado

Pablo Heras-Casado makes a powerful impact and has achieved remarkable success conducting repertoire spanning from early music and historically informed performance to great symphonic and operatic literature as well as contemporary works. In great demand as guest conductor, Heras-Casado regularly appears with Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Staatskapelle Berlin, Münchner Philharmoniker, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, SWR Symphonieorchester, Wiener Symphoniker, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Filarmonica della Scala, NHK Symphony Orchestra and many others.

Stephen Costello

Stephen Costello has been hailed as ‘a prodigiously gifted singer whose voice makes an immediate impact’ (Associated Press). The Philadelphia-born tenor quickly established a reputation as a ‘first-class talent’ (Opera News) after coming to national attention in 2007, when, aged 26, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut on the company’s season-opening night. Two years later, Stephen won the prestigious Richard Tucker Award, and he has since appeared at many of the world’s most important opera houses and music festivals, including the Royal Opera House, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra national de Paris, Deutsche Staatsoper, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Semperoper Dresden, Bayerische Staatsoper, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Hamburgische Staatsoper, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Bolshoi Theatre Moscow, Arena di Verona, Salzburger Festspiele, Bregenzer Festspiele, and Glyndebourne Festival. As Opera News noted in a recent ‘Spotlight’ double-page spread, ‘the all-American tenor’ is now ‘at the top of his game’.
